New pours

New concrete we form and pour includes:

  • Garage slabsFloors pitched toward the door so meltwater runs out.

Repairs to what you have

For older concrete, we fix slabs that are:

  • Cracked or chipping"Spalling" and broken edges, fixed after we track down the cause.
  • SunkenLifted back into line by "slabjacking", pumping material underneath.
  • Worn or flakingGiven a bonded "overlay", when the slab beneath is still solid.
  • Heaved in spotsOne bad panel saw-cut free and poured fresh.

Repair or replace? We look at the slab and give you a straight answer on site.

Ground and weather

Concrete built for Pleasant Prairie winters and ground

Pleasant Prairie concrete gets poured, drained and sealed with two things in mind: long freezing winters and the heavy clay under the yard.

Clay hangs onto water. Ahead of any new slab we strip the topsoil, excavate the soft pockets and build up a deeper compacted "base course" than drier soil calls for, and we schedule the pour for when spring has let that ground firm up.

Water leaves the ground here slowly, so we pitch every slab away from the house and seal its joints. Water trapped under concrete freezes and pushes it up, then lets it drop when it thaws.

Housing

Lots of driveways and patios in the village went in with the house, and winters of salt are starting to show on them. On new pours we specify "air-entrained" concrete, mixed for freeze and thaw, and saw "control joints" so cracks follow our lines.

Getting started

A question Pleasant Prairie owners ask

One thing Pleasant Prairie owners ask before a concrete job is how booking works, so here it is, start to finish.

Booking concrete work in Pleasant Prairie

Booking takes one phone call: you describe the job, and we set a site visit and write an estimate. In order:

  1. Phone us

Describe the cracked walk or the patio you are picturing, and pick a time for us to stop by.

  2. Site visit

On site we take measurements, go over the design and your goals, and see where the water goes.

  3. Written estimate

Every part of the job is priced in writing up front, so nothing gets added later.

  4. Pour or repair

The crew arrives when promised and leaves the site swept once the work is finished.

Price

A Pleasant Prairie cost question

How much would a 20x20 concrete driveway cost?

A driveway that size is priced after we measure on site, since tearing out any old slab, the deeper gravel base this clay needs, thickness, reinforcement, joints, drainage and the finish all move the figure.

Thickness shows how: each extra inch adds almost 50% to the load a driveway carries and about 20% to the material bill. Our guide to concrete cost per square foot explains what moves the rest.
