Somers Concrete Contractors for Driveways, Patios and Repair

From the streets by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside across the village, frost and road salt leave driveways and walks heaved, cracked and flaking. We pour new concrete and repair what you have.

Every Somers estimate is free, with no obligation, and if we miss your call we ring back that same working day.

The short answer

Concrete contractors in Somers

From Parkside to Pike Creek, Sophisticated Concrete pours new concrete in Somers and repairs, levels and resurfaces the old, for homes and businesses alike.

We come out from Kenosha for new driveways, patios, walks and garage slabs, and for the sunken, cracked or scaled concrete already on the lot. One visit gets you a straight answer on whether the slab needs a new pour, a lift, a patch or an overlay.

Our Somers jobs

Concrete jobs for Somers owners

Our work in Somers covers new driveways, patios, walks and garage slabs, and the repair, leveling and resurfacing of concrete that is already there. These are the jobs we take on:

  • New driveways

Tired drives broken out and hauled away, then regraded, set on compacted gravel and repoured in freeze-resistant concrete, with joints laid out ahead of the pour.

  • Patios and stamped concrete

Plain broom-finished patios, or stamped and colored ones that read as stone, brick or slate around the back door.

  • Walks and stoops

Front walks, side walks and stoops, poured with an "isolation joint" where they meet the house so each slab moves on its own.

  • Concrete repair

Cracked, chipped and spalled concrete cut back to sound material and rebuilt, once we know what broke it.

  • Leveling sunken slabs

Walks, steps and slabs that have dropped, lifted back into line by pumping foam or a mudjacking slurry through a few small holes, so nothing is torn out.

  • Resurfacing

Flaking, pitted surfaces given a bonded overlay and a fresh finish, when the slab under them is still sound.

Built for the winters

Concrete built for Somers winters and ground

Concrete in Somers is poured, drained and sealed for hard winters and for ground that moves when it freezes.

Frost sets the calendar here. Heaved panels, sunken walks and flaking driveways show themselves after the spring thaw, and new concrete goes in on thawed, firm ground, never on frozen soil.

Half the homes in Somers were built by 1984, so many of the drives and walks we look at have taken decades of freezes and salt. Some need a full replacement; plenty only need a repair, a lift or a sealer.

Under every new slab we dig to firm ground, compact a gravel "base course" and slope the surface to drain, because water trapped under concrete is what freezes and lifts it.

  • A winter-grade mix

Every outside slab we pour is "air-entrained" concrete, a mix made to survive one freeze and thaw after another.

  • Joints cut on day one

We saw-cut the "control joints" the first day, about a quarter of the slab's depth, so cracks form along our lines instead of across the middle.

  • Sealed against salt

De-icing salt causes "scaling", the flaking and pitting on old drives, and a sealed surface holds up to it far longer.

Before the job

A question Somers owners ask

Before anything gets poured, most Somers owners want to know how booking works, and the answer is right below.

Booking concrete work in Somers

One phone call gets it moving: you tell us about the job, then we book a site visit and put the estimate in writing.

  1. You call us

Tell us what you want poured, or what the old concrete is doing, and where it sits on the lot.

  2. We set a visit

We agree on a time to stop by your Somers property, and we arrive when promised.

  3. We measure on site

On site we measure, talk through the design and hear what the concrete needs to do for you.

  4. You get it in writing

A written estimate for the whole job, free and with no obligation, so nothing gets added after.

Common question

Concrete Prices, Asked Plainly

How much do contractors charge for concrete?

It depends on the job: tearing out old concrete, access for the truck, thickness, reinforcement, joints, drainage, the finish and cure time all move the price. A plain broom-finished slab costs less than stamped concrete in several colors, and a small pour often pays a "short-load charge" when it needs less than a ready-mix truck's minimum load. We quote the whole job in writing after the site visit, and our guide to what concrete costs covers each of these in full.

The exact figure comes from the visit, not the phone.Call for an Estimate
